As long as it's the right sort of music and has been approved by ourselves, we reckon the music is excellent for the brain. We've been learning a number of new tunes on the ole guitar and find that we're having to work parts of our brains we never knew we had. (Of course this is all conjecture as we don't have our own CAT scanning unit to make sure.)
Anyhow, we both agreed that even simple little numbers like the riff on Bryan Adams' Summer of '69 gives us a really good mental workout. Never mind that brain training game on the Nintendo DS, it's an instrument you really want to play.

We are also pretty appalled by the number of so-called musicians who seem to think it's OK to put their names to the Nintendo Wii guitar-thingy-games-whatever-it-is-you-call-them. You simply cannot compare this stupid piece of junk to holding a real Gibson Les Paul or Fender Stratocaster in your hands! There is something so intimate about the guitar and how each one will sound that bit different. For instance a guitar with a maple fretboard will have a bigger beefier sound than a guitar with a rosewood fretboard.

We've also noticed that there's one of those bloody awful shopping channels trying to flog this piece of crap that claims you can play a real guitar without knowing how to play it. What's the point in that?!
